Zoomarine - A fun day out for the family. The park has dolphin and sea lion shows, where you will be amazed as they perform tricks. For a more personalised experience, you can swim with the dolphins. Zoomarine is also a water park with slides, wave pools, and splash zones.

Slide & Splash - Situated in Lagoa, Slide & Splash is one of the biggest and most popular water parks in the Algarve with a wide variety of water slides. For adrenaline junkies check out Free Fall and White Fall slides. For a more laid back experience you can float along the lazy river.

Aquashow Park - Located near Albufeira, Aquashow Park has over 20 water slides, with something to suit everyone. The park is home to fast paced slides like the Banzai and Kamikaze. For family fun, float along the Congo River, experience the Flying Carpets or have a dip at Surf Beach.

Benagil Caves - The Benagil Cave is one of the most iconic sea caves in the Algarve. The dome shaped ceiling has a circular hole in the centre which lets sunlight shine through, creating an illuminated scene. You can access the caves by one of the many boat trips departing from nearby beaches.

Silves Castle - Perched on a hilltop with amazing views over Silves town, the castle has been well preserved to allow visitors to imagine life within the walls centuries ago. The sandstone structure of Silves Castle dates from between the 8th and 13th centuries, mixing Islamic and Christian influences.

Faro Old Town - Wander through the cobbled streets of Faro Old Town and visit historic buildings such as the Arco da Vila, The Roman Temple of Faro, Faro Cathedral and Carmo Church and Chapel of Bones. When you have explored enough, have lunch at one of the many charming restaurants in the old town.

Ria Formosa Natural Park - This is an area of stunning natural beauty, wildlife, and outdoor activities. Covering an area of 170 square kilometers, the landscapes include salt marshes, sand dunes, mudflats and islands. Ria Formosa Natural Park is a haven for wildlife. Being home to over 200 species of birds, birdwatchers will have their cameras at the ready.

Monchique Mountains - A visit to the Monchique Mountains will uncover panoramic views of the Algarve. In the area you will find an array of hiking trails, charming villages, Roman ruins and natural hot springs which are said to have healing properties.

Some of the most famous foods from the Algarve are -

Cataplana - The dish is a seafood or meat stew that is cooked in the cataplana pot, a copper, clam-shaped pan. The stew is usually cooked with tomatoes, onions, garlic and herbs.
Grilled Sardines - Also known as Sardinhas Assadas. Fresh sardines are typically prepared by seasoning them with olive oil, sea salt and sometimes garlic or lemon. They are then grilled over coals and served whole, often with potatoes and vegetables.
Piri-Piri Chicken - Also known as Frango Piri-Piri. Piri-Piri Chicken is a grilled or roasted chicken that has been marinated in a spicy sauce made from African bird’s eye chillies. This dish is normally served with chips, rice or salads.
Carob Cake - Carob Cake is a moist, dense cake made with carob powder, flour, sugar or honey, eggs and olive oil. The carob comes from the pods of the carob tree, which grows throughout the Algarve. Carob is naturally sweet and is a great alternative to sugar.
Almond Tart - Also known as Tarte de Amendoa. This classic Portuguese dessert has a rich almond filling baked inside crispy pastry. The filling is typically made from ground almonds, sugar, eggs, butter and sometimes orange juice or cinnamon for flavouring.
Pasteis de Nata - These famous Portuguese custard tarts, although originating from Lisbon, are widely available in the Algarve. The velvety custard filling is encapsulated in crispy puff pastry, best served with an espresso coffee.
